Is it really nearly the holidays?

With the term fast approaching the end, holiday plays in full swing and revision being done to ensure that concepts have been retained, I wonder where has the term gone? It seems only yesterday that it was September and everyone was eager for the new year to start.

This feels like a good time to reflect on the third of the academic year that has passed. Have you been the kind of teacher that you wanted to be? Are the children making progress? Have you managed to get a good work life balance? If any of the answers are no to these or any other of your questions, you have time to make changes.

There is an increasing focus on the children’s mental well being, yet as the saying goes ‘you need to be well to do well’. Perhaps one of your New Year’s Resolutions could be about one small change that you are going to make to ensure the rest of the year is the year you want it to be. Perhaps that is meeting a friend for coffee, reading a book on the train rather than checking emails, turning work emails off on the weekend?! A friend of mine recently sent this little breathing video to me, and I in turn shared it with a year 4 class I worked with last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXItOY0sLRY It was nice to share in a moment with the class, perhaps you could try it out!
