English Moves

A quick English activity to get the body moving or to get a better understanding of the levels of the children in your class (ideal if you are on day to day supply).
  1. Find 8 pieces of white paper
  2. On each piece write letter sounds or suffixes etc. based on the level of the children
  3. Say a word that you want the class to answer and get them all running to that part of the playground/hall or tiptoeing in the classroom.

E.g You write the suffixes of -ation -ing- -ly -ed -ness -est -ful -ment
You then may say the word excite- the children then need to make their way to the correct suffix (there may even be more than one!)

To help you out, use the 8 suffixes above, and then the words below, and you have a ready made English starter, or a warm up activity.

Happy
Walk
Talk
Quiet
Large
Small

Educate
Meditate

Perhaps ask the children if they can stand at the front and you join in with the rest of the class.

Happy Teaching- Kate
