Creativity in Therapy

We went to Bett back in January, and can highly recommend this if you have the chance to go. It is a show predominantly showcasing new classroom practices and technology. A few of our March blog posts highlight some of the best we saw.

Cosmos has been created by a team of therapists and researchers. http://filisia-interfaces.com The idea is that it supports children with autism to build up communciation and attention skills over time. You get 6 ‘buttons’ that are light up and are pressure sensitive and it links to an app with specially designed games. The first game works on cause and effect, you use one button, and when pressed it plays music. When the button is released the music stops. Other games encourage turn taking, differing responses and increased activity. We really liked the idea behind this a lot, the price however is steep. You can rent one kit for £80 a month or buy one for £800. Now, we are not saying run out and buy these, but we are keen to share news of products that are new to market that are embracing technology to work with all learners. I asked the team if they expect the prices to reduce one the orders increase, they didn’t have an answer for me, but who knows….watch this space!
