Wake Up Your Body

We all know ourselves that regular movement breaks mean that we can often focus better when we return to our work, especially if we are desk based. The big question is how can we fit this into the children’s timetable on a regular basis? We have a few suggestions for you.
  1. Get the whole school moving by having a morning ‘wake it up’ session on the playground. Get a sounds system out there and all the staff and get everyone moving and dancing.
  2. In class encourage small activities that make a big difference. Chair push ups are a great one.
  3. Speak with your school Occupational Therapist about setting up sensory circuits. This can really support children with readiness for learning.
This book is full of ideas for activities that support movement for learning, maybe include some in your PE lesson warm up. https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/cka/Sensory-Circuits-Motor-Skills-Programme-Children/1855034719/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484469226&sr=8-1&keywords=sensory+circuits
