I was working with a group of six Key Stage One students recently and we were doing a speaking and listening activity around what they did on their holiday.
We do lots of asking and answering questions work as it encourages the children to consider other people and what appropriate responses they can give.
However, the challenge remains that they would much prefer to talk about what they did on the weekend/holiday, rather than ask a peer a question and extend the conversation.
So I created a quick resource to go in a pocket dice, specifically about their holidays, and they had a lot of fun rolling the dice and using it as a prompt for asking a question.
