Sensory Preferences

A few months ago I went to a seminar that the CRAE (http://crae.ioe.ac.uk) autism team organised at UCL.

It was part of their sensory preferences work that they have been doing. We got to make a brilliant sensory umbrella showcasing our own preferences, but the thing I loved more was the kit we used to make this.

'What Do You Like' Kingwood Sensory Preference Cards are a set of clear picture cards that you put in to categories avoid/dislike ok and like/seek. http://www.kingwood.org.uk/kingwood-web-shop/

As a pair we looked at our own preferences. This is a great tool that we are going to be using next year working with students and parents to support their understanding of the children's preferences.

I urge you to check it out as gaining pupil voice is a key part of the work that we all do in SEND.
