Colourful Semantics

The Very Hungry Caterpillar book is just brilliant for so many reasons. Key phrases are repeated throughout, the lifecycle of a butterfly, sequencing numbers and days of the week, healthy foods...the list is endless. I am teaching a small class each afternoon and the children have really varying levels of communication and understanding. My aim was to begin developing 4 key word sentences to begin teaching sentence structure and increasing vocabulary. Whatever Next! Colourful Semantics

I was asked to create some visual resources for a child in Reception who was working on three key word targets. The class Role Play area was based on the book 'Whatever Next' (brilliant!) and so we chose that as the focus. Here is a link to the PDF of the visuals that I made, all you need is to print and laminate and use a sentence strip to go along with the book.

A Winter Multi-Sensory Story

Our class story was The Snowman, and the children really engaged with lessons that involved multi-sensory elements. I created a really quick 'The Snowman' sensory story. In order to carry it out with the class, all you need are the resources on this crib sheet and the powerpoint and you are ready to go!
